Course Description

This course intends to provide you with the tools you need to succeed in a business program and career. First, you will learn what general content is covered in first-year, and specialization opportunities within a business program in your later years, to determine if this material suits your expectations and interests. You will then learn the dos and don’ts of university and scholarship applications to get into your dream business program with financing. Lastly, we will cover what career opportunities exist within Business, from consulting to social impact, when you need to start networking and applying to jobs, and what skills you need to land those summer internships you want!

As a former university business instructor, I can confidently say that this course is fantastic preparation for students, clearing layout all the details students need to know to wrap their heads around a business degree. Some key highlights from the course modules include (but are not limited to): -Explanation of key concepts to expect (e.g., financial statements, marketing fundamentals); a glossary is also included at the end of the module -Overview of evaluation, giving you a great perspective on how to study and prepare for testing points; this module is particularly helpful, as you can begin to apply the study tips during grade 12 to make them your norms -A detailed list of scholarships that are available in each province to assist with funding your education -Wonderful summary of how to write an effective resume and cover letter, as well as a helpful section on how to interview -Quizzes at the end of each module to make sure you have internalized your learning -A challenge to help you start building your application writing skills using the CAR method I wish I had this course when I was in grade 12!
